Mitsubishi i MiEV electric powered by lithium-ion batteries with 100 miles (160km) range and top speed of 80 mph (120km).

This car will be available in UK/Japan mid-2009 and Australia/NZ late-2009 (all Right Hand Drive countries)

Only about 15% of the energy from the fuel you put in your tank gets used to move your car down the road or run useful accessories, such as air conditioning. The rest of the energy is lost to engine and driveline inefficiencies and idling. Therefore, the potential to improve fuel efficiency with advanced technologies is enormous. With an Electric Car it costs just $2.00 per 100kms with MUCH more performance than with petrol at $20.00 per 100kms

  • Hey car companies,

This is what I want: A plug in electric car with high performance batteries for a long trip(more than 300klm).You have the technology to this this today.Make that car today and the profits will be astounding.

  • It's called the Tesla Roadster, officially has over 380km range, knock yourself out.

  • i think it's about time that we have this car. the electric cars are so much nicer than the hydrogen fuel cell cars. the electric car has already been proven to work more efficently then the hydrogen fuel cell. so i can't wait for this car to come out in the u.s. I hate GM so much for destroying the ev1's. no wonder their about to go Bankruptcy

  • Please sell these in the USA. We are so ready for them. Only selfish idiots want to continue to drive Humvees. And Hybrid SUV's are a joke, still getting horrible mileage, except for the AFSTrinity but it costs way too much for the average Joe.

  • Mitsubishi just announced that the iMiEV will soon be using Panasonic's new SCiB batteries that recharge in only 15 minutes. Cool. I spend that amount of time waiting in line for gas each week.

  • Soon you will not have to recharge at all, with the fuelless engine. You will have a car that can travel the whole of African continent without refuelling.

  • i think for the right price and i had the the money i would by one for trips over 30 miles but i still want to keep a gas car but i just wish they would make them look like american cars like if they made one with the styling of a mustang or other sport cars.

  • @TrullyJustBrowsing2 too easy, and the greedy oil companies would find a way to screw us anyway.

  • After the observation of the Japanese industry adopting US high pricing scam, I am confident my first electric car will be made in China.

Jobs creation for America and Japanese industry is just a joke when businesses envy Wall St like addicted to scams. Industrial revolution is only a history vocab only.

  • They should set up a test drive like this where I live in Arizona! I'd love to try the car out

  • @TrullyJustBrowsing2: I think that is wonderful idea. If EV had quick battery replacement dock ( Like a toy car..If you know what I mean..). Also service station (rest stops) on motorways would do great tade by having high electric charge points so that you can charge the Mitsubishi i MiEV in 30 minutes ! It is the ONLY car WILL and MUST drive when I get my drivers licence for 2011 and beyond !
