@Cotygeek Yeah...Benny Hinn is one for the todays audience. But hippocrsy on that guy is HUGE!!! hes got millions, got his own airplane jet, checks into expensive hotels, travels with posse, fancy dinners....theres bills for that!
PLUS! him and his wife divorced in 2010 and hes been keeping that quiet..and it turns out he was having inappropriate relations with fellow "preacher" Paula White, photo'd holding hands in Rome, coming out of a hotel!! I cant believe people like are let to continue!

Don't worry dude, I thought the same thing when I heard it the first time at the age of 11.

Yeah. Although there are still a lot of people out there who think it has an antiChristian message, when that's not what it's about at all. It's against unscrupulous charlatans like Benny Hinn who are aware that there's "good money in the name of the Lord."

For the longest time, I thought this was a serious song, about Phil's love for Jesus, because I could never understand the verses. Oh, poor deluded youth. ;) Well played Genesis, well played.

Thank You Jim Baker (LOL)

For along time I didn't mind televangelists. Fleecing dumb people out of their money is what capitalism is all about. I just saw it as a tax on stupidity. Now I think differently!

Erm... I think David Koresh was a bit beyond evangelism to be honest! He was more psychotic than swindler. Everything else you said is true though.
-
HA HA but how many altar boys are out there? - a few thousands - while evangelists are fleecing tens of millions of people including the very sick and those dependent on their social security checks...and don't forget about evangelists screwing up kids, women, and homos such as haggert, tony alamo, jim baker, david koresh, etc...just a thought
The evangelists are in it for the money.
The Catholic priests are in it for the alter boys.
I have more respect for the evangelists. Can you blame the lion for eating a sheep? They only fleece those who want to be fleeced.

Yeah this song wasn't bashing the Christian Faith. It was as some have said the frauds, fakes, and liars who flooded TV with their supossed ministries. I am a Christian and these kinds of people give us all a bad name. Ones like Jim Baker, Jimmy Sweigart among others were 'outted' around this time.
