The story goes that Graham Kendrick wrote the 3 verses, which have good words but are rather droney and don't have much range. He wasn't quite satisfied, but didn't know what to do. Suddenly, in the night, the whole brilliant chorus just dropped into his head, complete, as if it had come to him as a gift.

the first time i heard this song was from a worship album led by Don Moen back to the 90s(i guess), i don't think it's from Hillsong... good hymn though.

Gee this is woosy compared with the way the Nigerians sing it. When they ask their nation to be flooded with love and mercy, they sound as if they MEAN IT! Get lively, Hillsong! Start by ditching the million dollars worth of amplification and sing as if microphones hadn't been invented! Tell the drummer to stop imitating a push-button electronic gadget and drum as if he/she means it.
