Yes, many people who grow up as hearing get CI when their hearing goes down later in life.
I am 29 years old and i grew up hearing, I started notice hearing lost around age 15 and i got hearing aids but also do communicate thru lip reading and ASL. I am considering CI not to become hearing again but to help me to better take care of my patients... I am a nurse and it helps to be able to hear heart beat, lung ounds etc.
Its not a plot for anyone to make $, its advance of science.

This is nuts! The best users of CI's are those who used to hear and lost their hearing after they had acquired language. This is not some plot by AG Bell to get money, these people lost their hearing and had it restored through surgery. The CI was invented, at first, for hearing people who lost their hearing as adults, not deaf children.
