ID-4: 2382 Decimation

Starfleet responded too late to save Starbase 1 and Starfleet Engineering from the aliens. Now, Task Force Earth led by the Bismarck, and the USS Century confront the massive alien vessel. As they approach, the aliens unleash the overwhelming numbers of their fighters, which dealt more damage than originally anticipated. The aliens are also using a special warhead developed to obliterate shields and puncture through the hulls of other capital ships. With the Task Force engaged, the Bismarck falls victim to these warheads and is pulverized along with the USS Edmonton. Ships with a more robust design like the Nebula class were spared, but not without being disabled. With the Century disabled, the USS Venture, the last hope for destroying the invaders, makes a heroic move and rams the alien ship in its control area, destroying the ship and obliterating the Venture and the disabled hulks of the other ships.

Is there more to this scheduled? Does Starfleet find out what's attacking their ships and come up with a defense against this kind of weaponry? I'd love to see more of this if there is more.

I've heard of Starfleet ships being destroyed in battle, but this is beyond anything I've ever seen.

One last thing is I believe the Dominion and all its might would have destroyed that alien ship before it ever reached the Omarion Nebula

Even with the Federation's advance sensors and scanning equipment they couldn't develop a weakness for the aliens like, "just downloading a computer virus?" I love the the tech. of Star Trek but sometimes when you rely to much on tech. did not allow a person to rely on their own ingenuity.
