When right-wingers say that liberals are just as bad, they're wrong. It's right-wingers who fetishize weaponry and joke about wiping out, imprisoning, and deporting the vulnerable in society. When liberals calls somebody like Bush a fascist, it's because Bush's or whoever's actions are seriously similar to those of a historical fascist.

When you hear that it's "just a joke" to talk about slaughtering immigrants or blacks, remember that lynching was preceded by joking.

This interview does not do this book justice. The book is much better that what Neiwert discusses in this interview. In the book he spends a lot of time explaining how the new conservative movement changed from what conservatism was 20 years ago and how it evoived with fascism aspects to it that polarize America..
