no, the most you could say is that people that want to have children should be willing to switch places with their own children.

Why should they be required to switch places with someone over whose existence they had absolutely no control over?

  • @xknowledgeisfreex you can't follow the simplest concept. If we decide to end all life, and some people say that we should not, they should be required to switch with the most wretched. Why should they only have to switch with their own lottery pick? So some OTHER sucker wasn't lucky HA HA HA too bad on them, right? You have been around long enough to get these things. I don't know how a skull can be so thick. People need a society to operate, and it's all a lottery. Stop fighting this so hard.

  • @IndifferentSky But that was never the Arguement. That's a mere Strawman Pronouncement, and apparently it's actually a misquote of Heinlein's "A Zygote is just a Gamete's way of making more Gametes..; thìs may be the Secret Purpose Of The Universe !". The real bone of contention is that Most Sentience Percieves More Pleasure and Comfort and Satisfaction, than Pain & Suffering & Misery ; as a consequence of Being Alive. AN-ism is not Valid !

  • @WarblesOnALot yes, it's a "consequence of being alive" so what? Also you do not have any proof that people get more pleasure out of life. You should have to change places with the person suffering the most, your position is not valid. Humans being able to acclimate themselves to eating shit does not mean we don't eat shit. There is nothing here being accomplished, lots of carnage, life is not valid and neither are arguments in support of life.

  • @WarblesOnALot 2. The argument that molecules are more important than the thinking feeling creatures they result in is unethical they cause us harm, they are nothing to kowtow to. If they are coded with disabilities we try to fix those, not say "well that's what the genes said, oh well". We recognize wholeness and health. Continuing for the sake of crude forces and dumb molecules is not just silly and obnoxious it's unethical.

  • @IndifferentSky I promise you that by my own judgment, a lot is being accomplished in my own life. Are you suggesting that I'm mistaken? If so, by what criteria can we adjudicate this?

  • @IndifferentSky Goethe is pronounced something like GER-tuh, but without the 'r'.

  • @IndifferentSky Well.. War, is a condensation of "WAAAUUUGHHH !!!", and that's simply the noise any Primate makes when it's Scared or Angry or Hungry enough to Kill, to alleviate the sensation. SOME Chimps take part. NOT the whole tribe. The more often a Primate fights the more often they live away from their Home- Ground. The more often they fight Off-Country the more often they Lose. Witness Vietnam, &Iraq. So, our Killer- Monkeys are losing, in Absurdistan.

  • @IndifferentSky

Sorry, but that's a flawed concept.

If someone came up with the proposal that we all should stop driving cars in order to prevent car accidents, then according to your concept, anyone who disagreed with this proposal should be willing to switch places with the victims of car accidents, just because he wanted to continue the 'car game'. That doesn't make sense. Maybe think your flawed concepts through before you accuse me of having a thick skull.

  • @TheGzeus @TheGzeus Well we're all English speakers here. I only say Geothe like I do because I'm not familiar with the other ways. I can change if I learn it, lol.

  • @IndifferentSky Understood, and I have taught English as well.

That said, do you think that englishgoethe would rather hear "Göthe" or "getty"?

Also, there are circumstances where using a different pronunciation falls flat, such as foreign travel. If said Koreans went to China and asked to see the *whatever they say*, in Chinese, it wouldn't get them far. I did a transliteration job, DE->JP. No one in Germany knows where "myuunhen"(München/Munich) is. I used what Germans need.
