I got an alligator for a dad.
Well my mama never liked me, but I'm all she ever had.
Well I walked the woods feedin' hunger, when I could not find a buck.
And I never had much of nothin', just my two legs of bad luck.

Wouncon sittin' there, black cat sittin on Nanny's knee.
Black cat sittin' down on Nanny's knee, yeah.
Well I'm a Louisiana born and bred.
Eatin' black eyed peas, wearin' cowboy boots.

Well if you come to Louisiana, be aware of where you're at.
Well there's a voodoo mamas and gypsy queens,
and black cat river rats.
Well there's a honky tale and who got laid,
gonna move me on down the line.
I got a Mississippi mama gonna take me home,
she gonna make me feel real fine.

Well I walked the woods feedin' hunger, when I could not find a buck.
And I never had much of nothin', just my two legs of bad luck.

  • One of the best late southern rock bands. What a great, great pity that they did not release more records. Their first album is one of my all time favorite southern rock albums. Fantastic songs!
