Gampati Bappa Morya! Ganesh Chaturthi Festival in Juhu, Mumbai , India 2010

Hindu festival of Ganesha, a god of Wisdom, Prosperity and Good Fortune. I filmed the people of Mumbai celebrating in the Juhu area, and on Juhu Beach in 2010. I knew nothing of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities until they came past my hotel, night after night people took brightly coloured idols of Ganesha made from plaster down to the beach where they prayed to them and made offerings, before immersing them in the sea. This film was on the 'final' night which was much, much more wild and noisy! Although people still took small idols to the beach for a couple more days.
