In celebration of National Library Week, Bob Welch came to the WPL to perform in costume "Songs of the Civil War" on his guitar and bango.

The first half of the program Bob wore Federal blue singing songs associated with the Union, such as The Battle Cry of Freedom and Battle Hymn of the Republic, etc. As Billy Yank he told interesting, sometimes humorous stories involving General Grant, General Sherman, Lincoln, etc.

After a quick uniform change, the program continued with Johnny Reb. In Confederate grey he performed rebel favorites including The Bonnie Blue Flag and Dixie, while telling some fascinating stories involving General Lee, Stonewall Jackson and JEB Stuart.

This event was free and brought to the library by Friends of the Waterloo Public Library.
