Wayne Keith of Springville, Ala., created a bio-truck gasification unit. The "gasifier" is mounted in the bed of a 1991 Dodge Dakota V8 pickup, which travels about one mile per pound of wood and can reach 80 miles per hour. Keith and Auburn University Professor David Bransby Bransby will drive the bio-truck on a nationwide tour Sept. 29-Oct. 17 to raise public awareness of renewable energy and its economic, environmental and social benefits.

  • I used to run my 1969 Dodge D300 with wood gas. Even tried using exhaust to increase gasifier efficiency. When truck disintegrated on RR tracks from rust project was over. Filtering worked well, and engine was not tarred or burned out, still have that engine in storage today!
