With the outbreak of World War 2 the Székely-Hungarians of Bukovina, to the east of the Carpathians and within Romania, were re-settled mostly (and eventually) in Tolna county, south-west Hungary, where many of their descendants still live.*

This 'silladri' (lads dance) tune migrated from Bukovina to Tolna with the Székelys.

The version played here is adapted from the fine recording by Csaba Blaskó, Péter Makó, Zoltán Bobár, Zsolt Nagy and Albert Mohácsy, which appears as track 15 of "Táncház-Népzene 2008" (HHCD0107). It doesn't have their energy and style. But the tune fits nicely on my favourite instrument, a GCF diatonic accordion (aka melodeon) made by Oakwood of Leeds.

  • Hálás köszönet ezért a felvételért! Ismerjük mi bukovinaiak. Szüleink magukkal hozták. Mindig hallgatnám.

  • Köszönöm ! Csodás videó!!! Még több elyent!

  • Ezeket a dallamokat jól ismerem, édesapám dúdolgatta mindig, aztán megtanitotta a hidasi zenekarral, meg a lengyel polkát, amire érdekes táncot járnak Szucsevicán,

egészen mást, mint amit apáinktól láttam. Köszönöm, nagyon jó volt hallgatni.
