What a GREAT video! And yes, a LOT of his songs were better than some of McCartney's, especially lyrically. I wish McGuin would have brought him into The Byrds around '71 or '72, but Emitt wouldn't tour any more than Gene Clark. Too bad.
This guy was the real deal. No he wasn't better than Sir Paul but could hold his own with any singer/songwriter of that era. The problem was he went to the record company meat grinder and ended up part of the Hawthorne Jinx.
he might have two hit songs but this is a fucken joke! Any body who gets the opportunity tomake hit records better have more then two ideas, or you'll end up having people say what ever happened to that guy....... Live
It's simply a situation of being prepared for opportunity. We all have the opportunity for success—all of us. It's just how we go about preparing ourselves, how well we are aware of our environment, given the random flickers of opportunity when it touches each of us on the shoulder.
Dude, come on get real... better then Paul, I love Emitt Rhodes and grew up listening to him when he went solo and agree he was very talented and very underappreciated and overlooked by mainstream. With that being said, how much did he write and record and how many instruments could he play that could rival Paul's talent? Yes, Emitt should get more recognition and it's very sad that we don't here any thing about him now... but youtube at least has some others now listening to him, and that'sgood
This man's sad story is practically Biblical. He had it all and still got beaten down by life like a dog. What chance do the rest of us poor slobs have when the truly gifted get boned?
