@duvel60 The GDR was not a typical socialist country as well as Tchekhoslovakia and Yugoslavia. If you had been in the USSR (besides of Moscow, Leningrad and Baltic republics) or in Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, you perhaps would change your opinion.

USSR was in no way a multicutural country. It was a dictatorship of russians. The so-called "proletarian internationalism" was used only as a cover.
In the EU you have full freedom to live in your own culture.
So the comparison isn't correct.
