so my gsd has behavior issues. I notice she responds to my nephews flute, so I will be looking into whistle training. What are the steps to whistle training? What positive reinforcement do you use to help with the training? thanks

What a great dog, GSD are very clever. I hope you are enjoying owning her.

How did you train her to do this? :)

Start by waiting till your dog is walking towards you without being prompted & blow 2 quick loud toots of the whistle & immediately give your dog several small treats. Repeat several times the 1st day. Day 2, wait until your dog is in the other room, preferably not a hard wood floor like we have because they should go crazy and come-a-runnin', blow 2 quick loud toots of the whistle and tada, it works. Always give treats when training.Just keep increasing the distance and the distractions. : )

Let me know if it works out for you. If you stay with it for the 1st week or so, it should stay stuck in his mind. I don't use it all the time, but if we go to dog beach and she gets too far away from me.....Toot-Toot and she comes running.

Dakota is very mellow. She rarely ever barks and is just the sweetest girl. We are lucky to have adopted her, she's been nothing but smiles!
