  • I would never challenge the integrity or written records attributed to McNair or Godefroy...they are unassailable...I appreciate your response.

  • I agree with "loose cannon" but I defy you to provide support documentation that shows any of his wingmen "hated" him. I spoke to one of his wingmen; I have it on video; and the consensus of that wingman, who is nationally famous, was that "he was treated badly" by the people he was risking his life for on a daily basis.

  • @windsorwindow

Eric Hartmann did not fly in the Battle of Britain, he flew on the eastern front with his first combat coming in Oct 1942

  • @windsorwindow Well I just began my extensive research now and now one can deny that Beurling ended up like Will Barker or even Lawrence of Arabia.

  • @TheCharacterActor I think your screenplay will suffer if you make him out to be a troubled man. The only troubled men were those who entered Beurling's gun sights. Writing about a hero would be very difficult as it would take exceptional skill to convey the exceptional skill of another.

  • I just started writing a screenplay about him. I am NOT going to show him as an a--hole but a troubled man who suffered a big down fall. A very good friend of mine has a stricking resemblenceto Buzz and an actor named Kerry James looks just like Buck McNair.

  • @sukrod I got this info from the records from Robert "Buck" McNair and Hugh Godefrey.

  • He was also a loose canon. arrogant, reckless and most of his wingmen hated him.

He also ended up just like Lawrence of Arabia.

  • The Canadian govermant at the time was stupid to remove him if he was kept in the war the war would have ended sooner because the allies would have air supiority 90% of the time

  • George was the youngest Canadian to hold a pilot's license in Canada at the time of the wars onslaught. He was refused entry into the Canadian air force as he was not a university grad so he went to the English who accepted him as an RAF pilot. His Malta kills were incredible. Too bad they did not let him fly in the Battle of Britain and take on Hartmann.
