A lawn is not close enough to the size needed to grow enough food to sustain a family.

You are going to need a couple of acres at least... to grow the correct types of foods which contains essential nutrients needed by your body and can stay fresh over the winter or be canned.

If you have a couple of acres you can raise a few dairy goats and chickens... If you are a vegan you need even more land.

Eggs, potatoes, and milk from goats contain most everything you need.

Doc's right about the welfare buyouts recently visited a big cit Wal- Mart in the northeast and it looked like a disaster zone I would say more than 65% of food was gone if not more I thought the store was closing but the clerk said no it's always like this first week of the month it was scary !!
