My YM2151 synth playing J.S. Bach's Little Fugue in G Minor.

I've loved this piece ever since I first heard it when I was four.

  • question: is a YM2151 pin-compatable with a YM3812 chip?

  • It's close but not exact.

  • so this means that the 2151 is not fully pin-compatable with a 3812 chip and therefore will not work? i wanted to get better FM on my sound blaster 1.5...

  • No, it won't work. The register layout is very different too, so even if it did work you'd have to write your own software for it.

  • Bach sounds good even the 80's. Well he sounds good whenever and wherever.

  • Bach would sound good on tin cans.

  • Bach could probably play this with one hand lol

  • i now intend to use my commodore128's sid to play bach (if i can)

  • I wonder if Walter Carlos used a Yamaha synthesizer. :) Great version!

  • @douro20 The Neo Geo used the Yamaha YM-2610, aka OPNB wich is a fifteen-channel sound chip, and is totally different from the YM-2151. Still both chips generates an incredible sound.

  • The YM-2151 enjoyed the most use in the Neo-Geo, as far as I am aware. It is an 8-voice, 4-operator FM sound chip. A bit can be set in the registers on the chip to allow the 8th voice to generate noise.

  • wait, is this the chip beeping at different pitches? or is it a music program

  • A brilliant composition, even with these annoying voices.

  • Whats this ?

  • Not bad. This is one of my favorite songs historically, and now I'm getting into synth stuff, so this is an awesome transition. =D

  • Wow. Never Expected to hear Juno's theme on Genesis

  • more of a Cannon in D man myself :P
