It's alive! Churning and roiling and bubbling and boiling.

  • I have 3 gallons of hard cider fermenting right now. This is cool.

    Bill

  • this is a great video it shows how simple it is to make great hard cider

  • can someone please send me a email to my profile or to me telling me what are the best conditions for fermentation im not makeing its for a science project can someone help it doesent say it on other intenet sites ty very much who ever tells me

  • Well, im also new at this, but i think it depends on the yeast used. I used cuvee dry yeast and the smell and taste was horrible. Part of wine making is experimenting with yeast and flavors. IF you want to carbonate it some, add it to a few 2L soda bottles (that have been cleaned very well) for about a day or until it hardens to the point where you can't squeeze them anymore. Then put them in the fridge to kill of the yeast and so you oh and what yeast did you use?

  • i followed this recipe in augsut and since then cider has been standing, all in proper conditions, and with and air outlet.

I plan to open it up in a week or two.

What do you think, the outcome will be?

    Drinkable or spoiled?

  • That foam doesn't look too good, what kind of yeast did you use?

  • you can wait about a week and drink it. It depends on how alcoholic you want it (use a hydrometer to find out alcohol %). In about a week you should have ~3% alcohol which is just about beer. I recommend it being 1 week (w/o any additional sugar) because you still taste the flavor of the apple fully :-D.

  • How long since the time you added yeast and the time you can drink it?
