This is a tour of the tower of the americas in San Antonio TX. The cost to go up was $10.95 USD. in 2003 when I last visited, it was $2.00 USD. Since Landry's got hold of it. they raised the price, however this tower got a complete renovation in 2006. the elevators used to have Dewhurst buttons.

  • Ive been to that tower back in 2004. It used to look different. The observatory was not safe. Outside, it did not have those big fences. All it had were the railing. I remember when my brother tried to climb that when he was 4 and my parents stopped him after half a second. Now, no one can climb it. The elevator looks the same, but the buttons were different. The nice design when going down was not there. It just used to be a wall only.

  • @elevatortimes It had dewhurst buttons. It also only cost 2 bux. i have a video on 8mm from back in 2000 i believe. will upload it once i find it..

  • I've eaten at that restaurant a couple of times before

  • @gluse did you eat there when it was owned by Frontier (Jims up until 2006) or Landry's (current) and how was the food?

  • Im surprised they aren't Schindler elevators

  • I see my house

  • The San Antonio skylines relatively small for its size.

  • wow that s one amazing lift and building you can see for miles

  • I filmed going up that same tower in the same elevator and postated it to YouTube and got 2 views and this guy gets 6000 views

  • Wow, that sure is expensive going from a reasonable $2 to an obnoxious $12, but at the UT Tower, you can go all the way to the 27th floor on a Tower Tour for only $6. More expensive than in the past, but half the cost of Tower of the Americas today.

  • @Anjasomc They have two-speed doors on the outside and three-speed doors on the inside. Original fixtures were Lexan.

  • I swear at 4:01 it is a two speed door. might be wrong

  • cool
