Presented by http://www.timeframesvideo.com - Amazing atmospheric effects - Be sure to change your Settings to 720p HD if you have a broadband connection. Mt. Rainier in the state of Washington is one of the Cascade volcanoes that generates some amazing, other-worldly clouds. Because it is so high (over 14,400 feet / 4300 meters) it acts like a giant rock in the atmosphere. Winds blowing over the top sometimes form wave clouds (also called lenticular clouds) in the lee of the mountain. On occasion, these can end up looking like UFOs, flying saucers, or stacks of pancakes. This time lapse set has been a long time in the making -- as I captured enough sequences to get a continuous flow.

  • wonderfull work, thank you!

  • @banelou -- Rainier is the perfect photo-op, especially on days when we get these unusual mountain clouds. -- Have you seen these before?

  • I grew up in Carbonado which is located in the foothills of Mt. Rainier; for many years I remember seeing saucer shaped clouds, always to the left of the mountain, I always thought it had something to do with a portal. I now live within the foothills of Mt. Baker and see these same kind of anomalies. If you notice throughout this video there are chem-trails, vapor trails dissipate, chem-trails do not. Chem-trails spread out and join together & sure enough within the next day or two it will rain.

  • @MtBaker123 -- Yes, depends on the way the wind is blowing. Usually it's blowing from the south or west, so the cloud ends up east of the mountain, toward the left...

  • Absolutely amazing footage. I read the comment about taking approx. a year as well...now that's dedication, well done and good on you!

  • @BlackstoneCarp -- thanks so much (just getting time to respond to comments now...)

  • @MtBaker123 -- I was over south of Mt. Adams this past week, and I saw many of the lenticular - lens shaped - clouds building up there too...

  • @cuivie -- Yeah, you know we get a little jaded sometimes after being here for a while, but then we get a day that just astounds... thanks for the comment-
