Elegua

Calling of the Saints (Los Santos).
Performed by an all female troupe (including the drummers) from Matanzas province, Cuba.
The call (recitation) and rhythms are dedicated to the Orisa that is 'called'. In this case, Elegua, the gatekeeper/trickster, opener of doors. Elegua is a central figure in Yoruba spirituality and is usually the first Santo called, to open the door for the other Saints
