This performance, from the February 11, 1970 broadcast of his TV show is one of a number of times Cash performed this song during his show's 2-season run. Refining his composition on the fly, on network TV in prime-time, Cash demonstrated the artistic process at work with the unflinching courage and integrity for which he is so well-known. As always, Cash dedicates this song to his six daughters.

  • Johnny plays the guitar in a wierd way - he plays by strumming on the neck and fretboard!!! Great song, one of my favorites!

  • This is such a great song. Almost like Wordsworth. And the Barnabas Collins outfit is classic too!

  • Outstanding. The Man in Black, surrounded by blackness, doing a great job!!

Only Bob's Tele is shining through the black background from time to time :D
