  • 2 dislikes! Why the hell would you dislike this???

  • Bruce and Dave are both legendary...I learn so much from these guys. Even more than mixing techniques, they give us the attitude for success in the music industry. Wrong motivation equals dead end!! Thank you gentlemen! GROOVECITY

  • this guy is amazing. But I disagree on the transients too.

I think that anything that make sound is, "the right way to do it."

Fact is, one guitar in one room can sound like some other guitar in some other room with an 1176 on it.

Nowadays (and increasingly) music making is boiling down into the sum of it's parts for everybody.

I look at cables, rooms, compressors, speakers, computers, mixers AND instruments as one big doohickamajiggy.

Theres something to be said for a guy that commits himsel

  • "Amazing" Episode!!! Mr. Swedien is a funny guy!

Very entertaining, and humbling, considering the history, and the knowledge we were privy to here. Still, I'm not sure I can let the compressors go... but I'll try less.

  • tube traps are also mentioned by Hugh Padgham

"Apart from the old thing of closing curtains, putting rugs on the floor, and gaffer-taping bits of carpet onto the walls, we also used studio screens, as well as things called Tube Traps. If, for instance, someone is playing an acoustic guitar in a quite reverberant room, you can surround the microphone, the player, and the instrument with some of these Tube Traps and they'll radically change the reverberant characteristic of the sound."

  • @makerKID5 you're right. He's only mixed REAL music. They don't make them like that anymore.

  • Dislike is not a "Download" button !

  • @BayanTheOne You have to take into account he is probably referring to the projects/genres he mixes on I doubt Mr.Swedien has or will ever mix a Euro Dance/Electronic/Up tempo Pop track

  • i don't think Bruce's transients point of view is true for modern non-live (electronic) music genres

these genres have their own sonic aesthetics, whose goal is not to faithfully represent the sound of live and real world instruments and spaces acoustics

one can state, well, that's not music, but that's another point

  • FANTASTIC INTERVIEW WITH BRUCE. INCREDIBLE WAY OF THINKING !

  • I really love Bruce Swedien, thank you for share :)

  • When I first saw this I was like "NO WAY!!!" - Living Legend.
