Indeed it was - specifically, I believe, the now defunct Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering (VSEL) in Barrow-in-Furness.

Chumbawamba transformed this into an amazing pop/punk song back in 1983... very much worth seeking out.

Chumbawamba is Australian for shit.

Talk about a band that could do it all, and a writer who....can write it all.

Actually, you're both wrong. Wyatt covered Elvis's song. Elvis wrote all of the lyrics, and Clive Langer wrote all of the music. Clive called Elvis and said "I've written the greatest instrumentation I've ever written" and Elvis responded with "I've written the greatest lyrics I've ever written". (paraphrased)

And they put it together for something twice the awesomeness.
I love this song too much.
