  • Shame the cam vibrated so much. I love my FJ too, how many miles have you put on it so far? I understand the 2nd thing, sometimes I don't pull up quite hard enough and wind out the poor girl out! Good luck with your riding.

  • @racierx yeah I know, combination of a poorly mounted exhaust and a spindly cam mount. My FJ is a '92 with about 150,000 km so far.. She goes pretty well for a old tourer :-)

  • I think factory, at least it still does 3500rpm in 5th at 100kph, so it's the same as it was before. Front suspension dive issue sorted by slightly heavier springs and 10 weight oil. ;-)

  • I just rode mine home to Auckland from Gisbourne running on three cylinders and it still gave me jollies... amazing what a new set of plugs can do innit.

These things can go forever if you look after them.

A change in sprockets could be on the cards,

Front brakes are powerful, however are let down by the suspension, which dives alarmingly

CU on the highways and not sideways

  • Just got both my sprockets and chain done for $300 cash, excellent guy, Panmure Motorcycles, old fulla by the name of Lorrie :-)

  • Yeah it's a good road and a great bike.. The advantage being in that it'l go like a scalded cat when you want it to and the rest of the time it's a comfy, 2-up cruiser.

  • i never miss 2nd

  • Utica NY- got it cheaper, but used cheap RK chain which buzzes. Went up 1 tooth in front and it makes a diff on the 86, Too many rpms prior in 5th..now ok.

  • Thanks for info re your new sprockets, so did you stay with factory specs or have you changed? Looked in my manual and can't find a reference to sprocket teeth so I don't know if mine is original spec, any ideas?

  • チョーへたくそ!!
