I love both The Knife (who wrote this song) and Jose Gonzalez (whose acoustic version I have attempted).

This song is played in open D tuning (DADF#AD) - The album and Jose's live versions have all been with a capo on the first fret as far as I've seen, but I don't mind playing it without a capo as it seems to send out more call overtones from the ringing strings.

Please subscribe and if you are an acoustic musician with a decent album - lets do a CD swap!

  • Awesome, mate. I love this tune. Great version!

  • hey man - thanks for your feedback on my tunes! much appreciated.

  • brilliant cover.. I love the part where it goes up to 'and you' - so satisfying to play - one of the best transitions in guitar playing!! great job

  • yeah the transition is very rewarding! i wanna learn how to play 'crosses' - but i'm guessing its gonna be a killer to play and sing with the weird timing! have you tried it?

  • hehe so funny, when i went to bed i listened to this song, and woke up with this song in my head, then i get on youtube and you just made a beautiful cover :) keep going Berondi!

  • i often go to bed listening to this song too! i'm glad you dug my version serge!

  • Go The Knife!!! Down with untalented thieves!!

  • A very nice cover Berondi, good job :).

I am going to try and tune my guitar now to open D tuning. Not sure where to start or how to do it though :p.

  • I gave crosses a try once but gave up.. not easy!! but probably achievable given more patience than I had - just shows what a talented guy jose is
