  • Great video!! I never thought that anyone's got a video like this, which captures the city's old days and tells that there really was an american base existed in our hometown. Although I was born in 1972 and raised there until my high school graduation, I can definitely recognize some places, and those places bring me good childhood memories. Thanks!!

  • @dkkdmoto I will always remember how friendly the Wakkanai People were to me.

  • My dad was stationed remote in Wakkanai in early 1960's. When it became open to dependents, we were among the first ones there. We were there between 1963 and 1965.

  • Wow... that really brings back the memories... My tour was 1970-71. Wish I could do it all again!!

  • Great video. I was stationed there in 1968 - 1969. It was a fun time, but boy did it get cold in the winter! The local people were very friendly and made it a great tour.

  • I've found plenty of photos but this is the first video (8mm) of any sort that I've been able to find of Wakkanai AS anywhere. And, trust me, I've searched high and low. Thanks for posting this Gene!

  • Thanks for posting this It brought back a lot of good memories from 1966 - 1967 when I was there.

  • What a great video. I was stationed there in 1963 and left in Feb 1964 also. Had a great time. Thanks for the memories!

  • Thanks SO much for this video! I was stationed at Wakkanai in '68-'70, and again in '71... briefly. WAS was one of the best assignments I had during my 22-year career in the USAF. You captured it beautifully. Thanks again!
