I don't know HOW people can dislike something like this. It's utterly rude and heartless and completely disrespectful of everyone who's ever been affected by cancer. This isn't some pointless "funny" Youtube video where you can try to rebel and be funny. There is NOTHING funny about disrespecting cancer, and the lives that it has touched. These are people, just like you and I, who can't do everything, but are trying to do something together. The six of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

But it's not the same until you personally experience it. I have a whole new respect for people fighting cancer, people who fought cancer, and people who fight alongside cancer patients. I feel connected to them. And this year will be my first year getting involved in the Relay - though I have a feeling it won't be my last. I'm sorry this was so long, haha. I wish you the best, whoever you are.

I was very, very fortunate. My mother underwent a full hysterectomy and doctors say that the cancer, as far as they can see, has been eradicated completely. She'll be under surveillance for the next 5 years just to be safe. The reproductive system is isolated from the other systems, so cervical cancer is not likely to spread. I remember how, at the beginning, I felt like my life would never be the same. And I was right. Everyone hears about how frightening cancer is, how many people it kills -c-

high school with a 96% overall average, 15 awards, and $20,000 in scholarships. Looking back now I actually can't believe I managed it. I've always believed that, if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything. And those six months, that philosophy really challenged me. It was especially hard, knowing that my sister was literally the reason this was happening to my mom. I felt like, all of a sudden, the things that used to be pillars in my life were crumbling and leaving me all alone. -c-

was really long after her first. I was due to graduate high school in that year, off to university... and I remember when I was first told that my mom might not live to see 2013. It changed my life forever. I felt so shattered and broken and nothing, no one, could fix it. We're a family of first generation immigrants, and my parents worked so hard so I could have the things that they didn't have. And I worked hard for them - I still do. I'm in first year university now, and I graduated -c-

Hi there, I know it's been a long time since you've posted this comment (the comment says 4 years ago and it's been 4 years since you posted it), but I just wanted to say to you... I don't know what the appropriate words are; I just felt it really necessary to reach out to you. In December of 2011 my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I was 17 at the time and my baby sister and only sibling was 4. They say that the cervical cancer developed because of my mom's second pregnancy, which -c-

Just an update... I am now 18 years old, and still fight every year to find a cure for cancer... over the three years i have also seen my mother fighting cancer, and luckily she is alive today. That year i made a school team, we had over 25 people and raised over $4,000. Now remember, only one person besides me on that team has ever done Relay For Life. I am the Youth Involvement Chair for my relay this year.. my all time favorite quote is... "Today's Youth.. Is tomorrow's committee members."
