"Regentropfen" .... Paul Dorn & Theo Heldt und sein Orchester (1935)

This video features another very popular tango from the mid-1930s : Regentropfen (die an dein Fenster klopfen)" or in English ; Raindrops (knocking on your window). The best known versions are those by Rudi Schuricke and the Meistersextett (the aryanised Comedian Harmonists)... The version presented in this video was recorded by the Theo Heldt orchestra with vocals by Heinz Larsen, better known as Paul Dorn.

I have very little information on the Theo Heldt orchestra. He recorded mainly for the Clangor label. This record label is one of the few German labels I have never seen outside of Germany. I bought this record at a flea market in Berlin many years ago....

This record was recorded with an Ortofon Om78cartridge and stylus as well as 78rpm phono preamp. The restoration was done as truthfully as possible.

I have a version of 'Regentropfen' played by Tanzorchester Oskar Joost (Singer unknown). Both versions (yours and the mentioned one) are very similar as if the orchestras have played from the same sheet of music, nearly no variations... (If you are interested I can send it to you..)

Herrlich! Mir ist es bislang verschlossen geblieben wie man Platten so toll restaurieren kann! Absolut kein hörbares Rauschen und Knacksen mehr und doch ohne Verlust der eigentlichen Musik. Es ist fast so als würde man live im Studio sitzen. Und das soll "quite used condition" sein? Das klingt wie neu! Da musst du mich mal aufklären Erwin :)
