Same thing that happened to John Kerry happened to McCain and especially Palin (although McCain would have lost anyway).

If you want to get elected...
1. Don't say dumb stuff.
2. More importantly, don't say anything that SOUNDS dumb.

What's so funny is that this ten second sounbyte that was designed to make Kerry look like a flip flopper and/or an idiot is the fact that Kerry " did vote for it before he voted against it ". The bill that he supported in the Foreign Relations Committee was not supported by the full Senate. A different bill was submitted to the FRC and Kerry opposed it because it drastically changed how the war was funded. He should have chose his words better but he was telling the truth.

McCain couldn't win because only 1 time has one party held power for 12 years and that was the Reagan-Bush years.

The media is also OVERWHELMINGLY pro-democrat and the same goes for the Hollywood folks for which our generation is so mezmerized by.

Yea this quote is what probably cost him the election, just like in 1992 when Bush 41 lost to Bill Clinton b/c he said "Read my lips, no new taxes"

Yeah, except 41 said the famous line in 1988 at the Republican National Convention when he was the nominee. H.W. Bush lost in 1992 not because he raised taxes four years after his pledge, hell Reagan raised taxes after he was elected, but because the economy in general slipped into recession. Oh, and before you say it, no, raising taxes did not but the economy into a recession. Just the nature of cyclical American economics.

SO out of context! you don't include how the thing he was voting for got CHANGED between votes? Are people so stupid as to believe that once a bill gets introduced that's it? no changes? It happens ALL THE TIME! Anybody could support something in one format and find that they couldn't support it anymore once all the ADD-ONS happened!

McCain may be the only man alive who's actually voted against his own legislation. If you're looking for killer quotes, try this one from a debate:

Moderator: If your original proposal came to a vote on the Senate floor, would you vote for it?

McCain: No, I would not.
