Ehrgeiz (PS1) Gameplay

This is some gameplay footage of Ehrgeiz on the PS1 as played on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.

Ehrgiez is most remembered for giving players the ability to play as characters from Faina Fantasy VII. Overall, it's a decent fighting game, but it lacks the depth of other PS1 fighters. My general strategy in this footage was mashing on buttons, and this is a game that caters to doing just that. There are some other specials, and techniques thrown in there, but overall the fighting system is fun, but slightly shallow overall.

The game itself, however, comes packed with extras like mini games, and, as in Tobal (which DreamFactory also developed), a dungeon quest mode. In fact the dungeon quest mode is it's own separate game, and is pretty good considering it's attached to a fighting game.

Overall, it's not the best fighting game on the PS1, but it's worth a look, especially from Final Fantasy VII fanatics.

NOTE: Notice how Cloud had to get his girl to do his dirty work for him.

@vfgjhj Actually if you wait on the omnislash, Sepheroth hits Cloud, and Cloud counter attacks, so it's possible to kill Sepheroth with a simple attack. Either way in this game, Tifa had to do his dirty work because Cloud got pwned.

@LewisLongshanks I haven't really explored that far into the import scene on the PS1. I've heard about how good Tobal 2 is for years though, and have been meaning to one day get my hands on it.

@teh2Dgamer So Cloud coulda killed Sephiroth with one simple swipe of his blade? That makes Cloud look even better! Cloud is so much better than Sephiroth it's not even funny.

@reggiardito You could also try looking up Kabuki Klash, Warzard or Ninja Masters, just in case Last Blade isn't the one you are thinking of. Meh, I dunno.
