This was the trailer to AMC theater's Midnight Movie Express (1986).

They used to show Heavy Metal, Clockwork Orange, Rocky Horror and the sort at Midnight on weekends in the late 80's.

This played before many of the movies of my youth, and an interesting side note - The 'straight' couple that the advert is centered around? The guy taught short form 'Harold' Improv to me in summer camp in St. Petersburg, FL around 1987.

  • OMG! Someone found this for me after I had searched for it for so long. I always enjoyed watching this before the actual movie! Coolest thing ever!

  • I had a real good friend that lived in St. Petersburg was in the filming for this trailer. I also knew a guy that was a Sci_fi model builder that worked on the train model for it.

  • climb aboard, for the ride of your life! They used to say that on the radio ad in the early 80s in s. fla. :-)

  • I saw this when i was 15 in Arizona, I have always wanted to see it again, thanks for posting.

  • @bhcge It was very much Russ Albums; he's still in the VO business. Like U92's Jeff Laurence, he does mostly spots and station imagers these days.

  • I did with some of the Bronze Dragon Stunt Team back in 85'-86' they paid us all a dollar to do this. lol.. I was costumed as Patsy, King Author's faithful manservant, and coconut-clocker, from Monte Python. The theater shots were done in Seminole fla, at the Seminole Theater, but all the shots involving folks flying from their chairs, were filmed in the adtitorium at old St. Pete High on 5th ave. N. in St. Pete, as they had flying rigs there for stage shows

  • CONTINUED: They removed rows of chairs from the theater and transported them to the auditorium for use there. The visual effects of the train passing on the walls, was created by large spinning discs with windows cut out of them, with lights behind them. The lighted disc created the illusion of windows passing on the walls..

  • Oh HELL YES! Hey Frankie, it's Lorri (Jeanie's sister). It was so much fun working with you.

  • Oh WOW!!!! What a surprise, finding this! I remember watching this at the AMC in Daytona Beach...years ago! The girl's head turning all the way around scared me as a kid...lol =)

  • WOW!! This brings back so many memories!! I do remember watching this trailer before the sneak previews.

They played this when I went to see Predator and RoboCop back in 1987.

I believe the theater was called AMC Marina 8 in Miami, Florida.
