I got a headphone cable extension and it did not work properly when I received it. I cut it apart and soldered on my own wires on and it works better than it did.

  • @MrCHISOL Thanks for catching that. I was stuck in the mindset of the iPhone cable with the mic. The original cable did have a ground cable soldered on. For the test, I didn't bother soldering on a ground. I think I remember that sounds was coming out of both right and left but I'm not completely sure.

  • Just a note: There's no mic-"channel" on that contact/plug, the three sections are Left, Right and Ground. A plug with a "mic-channel" would have four sections.

    I guess you only got mono(/single side)-sound with the extension (as you only have two wires.

    It's always interesting to take things apart! :?D
