Pouffie in her FIRST 'High Five' training session. She is already trained to sit (4 legs on ground), sit-up (only hind legs on ground) and wait. I'm building on the behaviors of this prior training (chaining). Pouffie quickly realizes I'm asking for something new when I tap on my arm and she tries to find the answer. It's like a giant game of 'Kitty Cherades'. Whether you use a bridge (such as a clicker) or other affirming response (such as a 'Good Boy') indicating the animal has found the right answer, what solidifies the behavior so quickly is the use of positive reward...in this case, a tasty treat. For more information, visit www.IMAGINE-DiscoverTheMagic.com and my Facebook page (search for Cynthia Royal).
