India navy is the 3rd mordern navy in the world after US and Russia. and the russia aircraft carrier is 50 year old US aircraft carriers is abbout 35-40 years old

india aircraf carrier is 30 year old and they get 2 more until 2020.

It is a democracy and a country that has a past and a purpose and a future of greatness. I am not Indian but I am still proud of them. Go India. Before 2025 India is nowhere near to have a requirement of a nuclear carrier. Because the present political & geographical goal does not support that. And more over to support a nuclear carrier you need a fully functional nuclear powered carrier battle group comprising of Nuclear subs and destroyers, which is not their at present. Also 1 year have passed by and nothing have happened like that till now and Mr. Cameron won't be there till 2025 :)

I really do not see why india needs Aircraft carrier. the main purpose of air craft carriers are to go deep into enemy waters and provide air supports to near by friendlies. So its true usefulness is for a country that plans to attack away from home land. but that is not true for India. Our defense forces main purpose is to defend and not attack. So in my view our Air craft carriers are nothing more than mascots. hmmm pretty expensive mascots dont you think.

@afghantigerz its not that we want to be world leader in armament but we do have a huge coastal line and we do have some enemies so we cannot help it. But i am sure Australian Navy has to be bigger and better equipped than indian. i am saying this purely based on the fact that Australia has a huge coastal line and on nothing else.
