@wotan237 We use a "ButtRag (A bandana allocate specifically for the issue "at hand". Broad leaves (NOT Poisonous) work ok

could you please recommend a decent inexpensive sharpener for me to put a hair cutting edge on my knives?

@TheRealCxixmx It's not the sharpener that really matters.. it's your technique. Try learning with either a good Arkansas stone (easier on your knife until you learn.. but slower) or with a Smith Double sided Diamond Stone (quicker.. but will eat your blade faster if you aren't careful). Either one will cost you about $10
