Sometimes we just don't have a sharpening stone when we need it. Perhaps we forgot it at home.. or maybe we lost it out of our kit. What can be used in the bush when you don't have tools and sharpeners available? Take a look with us as we use other things to keep a fine edge on our knives.

  • wait so a flat stone can work as a sharperner?

  • @flyemirates4000 Ummm.. yes.. that IS what Arkansas stones are.. stones.. Other stones work as well

  • Very nice videos....a serious question: what leaves or whatnot work best for cleanup after taking a dump?

  • @wotan237 We use a "ButtRag (A bandana allocate specifically for the issue "at hand". Broad leaves (NOT Poisonous) work ok

  • could you please recommend a decent inexpensive sharpener for me to put a hair cutting edge on my knives?

  • @TheRealCxixmx It's not the sharpener that really matters.. it's your technique. Try learning with either a good Arkansas stone (easier on your knife until you learn.. but slower) or with a Smith Double sided Diamond Stone (quicker.. but will eat your blade faster if you aren't careful). Either one will cost you about $10

  • also do u need a certain grit on the stone?

  • good video. id like to see a vid about improvised weapon cleaning. for example, Dave Canterbury on one of his yurt videos used ashes and talo for a singleshot shotgun.

    thanks again for your videos
