A report by Anu Anand from Andhra Pradesh in south India on the plight of farmers. Thousands have committed suicide in recent years in India despite the country's economic boom. Producer/Cameraman Tarquin Hall
House Resolution 875, or the FOOD SAFETY Modernization Act of 2009, was introduced by Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., in February. DeLauro's husband, Stanley Greenburg, works for Monsanto the world's leading producer of herbicides and genetically engineered seed.
DeLauro's act has 39 co-sponsors and was referred to the House Agriculture Committee on Feb. 4. It calls for the creation of a Food Safety Administration to allow the government to regulate food production at all levels.
It ought to get interesting when every plant on the Earth is a suicide plant..thanks monsanto et al... Contamination of this man-made trait is inevitable.
oh and thanks for freakin' out all the bees with your latest toxins. WTG
What about the thousands of crores of rupees provided as relief by the government to these farmers? I used to read about it everyday in the newspapers.Farmers getting a check of few hundred rupees when they were entitled to much more than that. Obviously, all the money was eaten up by the so called 'babus'. But did anyone bother? Not the government, not the political parties, not the public. Nothing happened. It was all soon forgotten.
I would like to see more indepth analysis and etails about how govt. and cor[orations work hand in hand and the specific ways in which this denies the farmers and others of opportunity, support and success.
The reason why this is happening is because the people are leaving their Vedic tradition and heritage. The farming technique in the Vedas is organic farming.

Huge aid is not desired - a humanitarian eye is needed. But in a country of blinds what else will be expected!
