http://www.chow.com/ Gabrielle Feuersinger, owner of San Francisco's Cake Coquette, demonstrates the proper way to use a piping bag (also known as a pastry bag) to frost a cake or cupcake. You shouldn't grab it from the middle, since that will just cause frosting to fall out of the back of the bag. Give the bag a twist for the most control.

  • I know I'm commenting again but again this tip was super helpful! I baked my mom a birthday cake and frosted it myself, using this method to decorate it made it turn out just beautiful and just in time when my dad got home from his fishing trip too! My mom was so happy too! Thanks Chow Tips!

  • THATS SOME RUNNY FROSTING!

  • Probably a bowl under the frostings

  • Thank you for posting this. My friend and I used this tip and the cake we decorated was so beautiful. We had so much more control that we made peaks, stars, moons, boarders, hearts all on one cake. Thank you once again.
