  • also, Zare blatantly says he wants orangade, not lemonade.

  • Orangade, lemonade, does it matter? He only drinks it so he can get close to Ida, after all... :-P

  • The translation here is dodgy I think. Doesn't Ida's grandma say something like "I heard you have a singer, who can pull nails from a plank with her arse"?

  • I know the translation isn't perfect, but the subtitles were already part of the movie file, so I couldn't change them... sorry.

  • Where does the movie take place?

  • @ericmarseille2 Actually, most of the characters in the movie including Dadan mostly speak Romani, e.g. he refers to God as "Devel", "man" is "manush" and "na man gau" means "I don't want", those are all Romani words.

  • @ivybee1996 By central Europe I mean slavic but not Russians.

Well as for Dadan I thought he spoke Serbian in the film (a central European noted that the actors spoke in Romani, Serbian, Russian etc...), but anyway he says at one point :

"We in Bulgaria have a proverb : if you can't solve a problem with money, you can solve it by even more money!"

    So he's a Bulgarian gangster.

  • @ericmarseille2 But then why does Dadan speak Romani? And what do you define as "Central Europe", the girls seem pretty Eastern to me.

  • No Dadan isn't supposed to be a Gypsy, since he declares at one moment that he's never been racist to the Gyspies ; he's supposed to be a Bulgarian gangster (the actor who plays him is a Serbian with naturally blond, straight hair, and has curly, black hair and mustache in the film to "Bulgarianise" him).

The girls are supposed to be ordinary Central Europe whores, not Gypsies.

  • @miku1983 He says: "Jebaću vam majku narkomansku, samo još jednom da se ponovi!" = "I will fuck your drug addict mother if you repeat that one more time!" Cheers!

  • First i thought that "go water the telephone pole" was a bad translation.

Then i saw them watering the telephone pole..

    hehe

  • mogu gledat ovaj film 100000 puta uvjek crknem od smjeha
