The best single FPV flight is from "Gabriel2584"!!!
And of course go to the champ "nastycop420"!!!!!
After 1,5 years of planning, buying, building, testing and training the day of decision has come........
FPV= abbreviation for "First Person View"
RPV= "Remote Piloted Vehicle"
UAV= "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle"
"FAIL SAFE" on the screen= no control over the plane (loss of RC signal)
Wikipedia:
Millennium Tower, located in Vienna, is the tallest building and 2nd tallest structure in Austria at 171 meters (561 feet) after the Donauturm (Danube Tower).
An antenna mounted on top of the tower brings the architectural height to 202 metres (663 feet) but does not count to its overall height.
The tower has 51 floors, serves both commercial and residential purposes, and is the focal point of a complex known as "Millennium City".
The Millennium Tower was built in an extremely short construction time: Thanks to efficient organization of all work steps and modern building techniques have created an average of 2 ½ floors a week and the building completed in 1999.
I think a FPV video consists of:
1) Picture Quality (Vibrations, interference, signal loss,...)
An external HD camcorder on the plane is no real FPV, only the picture you are flying with counts!
2) Editing (Cutting, music,...)
3) Pilot skills (nastycop420, Gabriel2584,....)
4) Location (Grand Canyon, big city ....)
5) Creativity (Chasing cars, firing rockets, crazy stunts...)
6) Thrill (High speed low pass, almost crash....)
7) Scale Plane+ Cockpit: 3 extra points
Maybe a "risk factor" should be added to the rating: There is a huge difference if it is possible to see the plane never again (over water, buildings, mountains) or if there is the danger to hurt/kill people.
The loss of money is included in the "Scale plane/cockpit" factor.
My subjective rating of this video:
Picture quality 4 of 5
Editing 5/5
Pilot skills 4/5
Location 5/5
Creativity 5/5 (Through the antennas of a skyscraper :-D)
Thrill 4/5
No scale plane/cockpit- no extra points 0/3
Sum: 27/33 points
21st FPV flight (approx. 3,5 flight hours)
Costs:
FPV gear: approx. 600 Euro
Plane ready to fly: approx. 600 Euro
Costs altogether, with RC flight simulator, RC transmitter, charger, batteries: approx 2000 Euro
Money you need at the beginning: 3000 Euro (crashes included)
But you need much time to be able to handle the technology.........
Powering the FPV gear with the flight battery.
Range in high altitude (more than 100m):
RC approx. 1,5km (cheap RC receiver, no DS= double superheterodyne)
FPV approx. 3km
Half the range in big cities because of jammers!
Recording with Canon MVX200i Mini DV PAL Camcorder
Deinterlacing with "Alparysoft Deinterlace" with "Cedocida DV Codec" and Virtual Dub
Editing with Ulead Videostudio 11
Compressing with Xvid, Single Pass, Quantizer 2, MP3 256 kps CBR
This is the best possible quality in my opinion (with this camera, transmitter setup)
min. Transmitter voltage: 9,7 V, below that picture loss (happens at full throttle with an almost empty or weak and cold battery)
Setup:
Modified Multiplex Easystar:
Ailerons, Brushless motor
Trimmed wings (1145 mm) and fins
IMPORTANT: Center of gravity approx. 70mm from leading edge (approx. 8mm moved to the front)
Reinforced wings with adhesive tape on the wing under-side
Velcro tape on the wing ends in the fuselage and on the canopy for more safety
Turnigy C2409- 1600 KV, current draw approx. 27A
ESC NoName or Turnigy, 30A
Prop 7x6
2x Multiplex Tiny S
2x GWS Mini
LiPo battery: 11,1V 3s 2100-2600 maH, 188-202 g, (Kokam, Thunder Power Prolite V2, ACE RC)
Thunder Tiger ACE TG6000 Gyro on elevator
Graupner/JR MX-16s 40 Mhz with Sanyo Eneloop battery pack
Graupner/JR SMC-16 Scan PCM receiver: 3,500m antenna (Wavelength/2*0,95)
Detrum 9g Pan servo
FPV setup:
Fat Shark goggles
CCD Killer camera 5V, powered with the linear mode BEC of the ESC
Lawmate 1,2 GHz TX and RX, 1000 mW from fpvsystems, com
Stock 3dBi antennas on receiver and transmitter
1,2 or 1,3 GHz transmitters are legal in Austria with Radio (Ham) License between 1240 and 1300 MHz up to 200W
I'm using channel 8 (1280 MHz)
Black Stork OSD
3s Lipo for video Rx
AUW: 950- 960g
Weight FPV gear: approx.135g
Thrust: approx. 700 g
Flight time: 5-30 min. depending on throttle and thermal lift
Stall speed: 20-25 km/h
Max. horizontal speed: 95 km/h (airspeed)
If I would have to rebuild the plane I would use only Pico-Servos (9g class, like the Hitec HS-65HB), no decals and painting to reduce the weight and a 500- 800mW video transmitter (1000mW is too powerful :-D, too hot and heavy)
WOW!! That was frickin' really cool!! Thanks for the ride. I saw the "Fail Safe" message come on a few times...were you actually losing contact with the plane or the camera?
6Sally5 4 weeks ago
@6Sally5 I lost the RC link- could not control the plane. There is less range in the city.

@Techboy6601 Much better: Landing a FPV 3D helicopter on a moving train! Go to my channel and watch "Epic WIN..... and FAIL!!!"
