The First Lady of the American Screen, Bette Davis, earned the 1979 Best Actress Emmy Award (Prime Time, Limited Series or Special) for her work opposite Gena Rowlands, the Queen of Independent Cinema, in the outstanding made-for-TV classic "Strangers: The Story of A Mother And Daughter". Rarely been seen since its May 1979 broadcast, it marks a vital point in the career of Hollywood's greatest actress as it is one of the high points of Miss Davis's "Silver Age", when she played rich parts in some of the most acclaimed television productions of the mid-1970s through the early 1980s. Three decades after its broadcast and two decades after Bette's passing, "Strangers" remains a superb and resonant human drama, deservedly comparable to Ingmar Bergman's "Autumn Sonata" and James L. Brooks's "Terms of Endearment". I hope that my fellow Bette fans will continue to cherish one of her last great performances and films.

  • one of the most underrated movies of our time. the two best living actresses at that time.

  • Wow -I believe this is one of her best/top performances than even some of her movies. She is able to display true conflicting human emotions. Many people on tv made for movies can not display such heart/felt emotions. What I mean to say you can tell of some of these people today that act on tv is trying hard to look real ....

  • I recall watching this on TV back in '79... I loved it Never forgot it. Caught parts of it in a rerun here and there but never saw the whole thing in its entirety until now. It's even better than I recalled.. God Bless Bette Davis!
