How I play Golden Years by David Bowie. This is just how I play it and it's NOT a note-for-note transcription. This is a voiceless tutorial: first I play the various guitar parts; then I play everything especially slow so you can see the fingers on my left hand; then I show you how I pick and pluck with my right hand.
Oh yeah ... the plunger and pot are there because I did this while taking a break from cleaning out the shed (I didn't notice they were in the shot until I edited the video).

  • Don't be so hard on yourself. I just checked out your vid of Mad World. You can play, and what's more, you can really, really sing.

  • Is that a toilet plunger in the background?

  • This is EXACTLY what I hoped it would be as am far too lazy and untalented to work it our for myself.

Thanks, mate - great style, really soulful, funky playing. Love your sound.

    All the best from London

  • Thanks for this Video and ACTUALLY showing us step-by-step.. unlike alot of videos out there that say "Lesson" but just have them showing off their skills. You Rock

  • I always thought that since there are the two guitars in this song, one playing the main syncopated riff and then the other one with the heavy chorus or flanger on it or whatever, like when you're playing the higher octave riff at 1:12, I always thought that the second guitar was capoed at the second fret. That way you could play the chord shapes: Dsus then D then E and it would work. Also @ "I'll stick with you baby, for a thousand years", Try a C chord then Am there. Full sounding chords.

  • Good job,Thanks.

  • oh man well done. I'm gonna go over this and learn it. thanks so much for posting.

  • ddaaaammmn man hes got the funk

  • who the hell would dislike this?

  • That is perfect, exactly how it should be played. David Bowie's 70's songs remind us how important it is to use chords!

  • Wow awesome. I always thought I needed a capo on the second but I guess not. Thank you !!!!!

  • @Moniek50 By the way, nice playing and great arrangement.

  • @heyanto LOL xD
