More than 2,000 tons of oil have to be extracted from the Costa Concordia before salvage operations begin. Dutch salvage firm Smit will use a process called "hot tapping," in which oil is extracted via a hole drilled through a valve attached to the side of the boat. It could take two to four weeks to remove the 2,400 tonnes of fuel oil and 200 tonnes of gas oil in 15 to 20 tanks on the Costa Concordia. Sources: Lloyd's List, BBC, AP

  • They'll be lucky to get that shit out before the boat slides down the hill.

  • Can the removed fuel from the ship be "reprocessed" and used again? Anyone know?

  • @imsixftsix

    yeah it will be !

  • @imsixftsix they say they will pump up huge air balones under the concardia and then drag it away but it will cost hunderds of million's

    i hop i helped you : ,D

  • AND THEN?

  • @illustriouschin If the cruise ship slides down the hill well they can say goodbye to the lil tugboat and fuel tanker.

  • @PATSICK Renato Dulbecco, Enrico Fermi, Ettore Majorana, Umberto Veronesi,Guglielmo Marconi, Alessandro Volta, hundreds of Italian scientists done the shit that you are. I haven't kids, it's an impersonal question, you don't speak with me.

  • @pierix27 I can explain everything happening to your kids; they are morons and are therefore un-competitive in the modern world. Too bad. Birth control is good.

  • It'd take sixteen weeks, if they thought the insurance company would sit still for it. The oil came out of the planet; it's going back in the planet. 45% of the spill oil, planet wide, every year, comes from natural seepage; who cares. It makes no difference whatsoever to anyone. Brought to you by the UN campaign to end national government in aid of one world domination. Thank you.

  • @imsixftsix yeah heavy fuels keep very well
