Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Dune 2000.

The Harkonnen have built a lucrative harvesting operation in the Imperial Basin. The area and all of its Spice are required if Ordos is to advance its slow march. It is, however guarded heavily, as all Harkonnen bases are. Edric O does not waste words. He tells the Commander what he is worth to the Ordos effort, and if he wishes to remain effective, he will increase his worth. Edric O has allowed the Commander to use military force to relieve the area of the Harkonnen. The Spice in the Imperial Basin is so important, that should the Commander fail, he will be forced to live and eventually die under a Pain Amplifier. Fear is an efficient tool of management.

  • Anyone expect him to say "resistance is futile" at the end??? lol

  • Sapho juice increases a mentat's mind and abilities biologically. Edric O is a mentat augmented with computers and therefore doesn't require sapho juice. Part man, part machine, all logic. LOL

The traditional mentat is a full blooded human who has gone through rigorous training since childhood to become a mentat. However, Edric O is a thinking machine (a computer if you will), that was given the task of a mentat. Some Mentats are clones from corpses, like the Harkonnen Mentat Hayt, and I think the female Ordos Mentat from Emperor.

The Atreides try their best to avoid unethical weapons and technology, being that they are the "noble" house. The Ordos and Harkonnen however

  • 2 people are living out their lives in pain amplifiers.

  • @TheRetiredtrucker at least, if this stupid fuck would have merchandised it, he would have made money out of it... then again, who cares if it's non-canon? He could have as well put a brief introduction, stating its non-canonicity.But the REAL reason he didn't published the DE, is the fact that it contradicts his own books...so he acted this way to protect his own "products", and from insinuations about his books having nothing to do with the original Dune series... (which is true anyway)

  • @lordvivecjjj wow didnt know about the enclopedia..... ty for info

  • @Voxateuri nah, he's just smiling at the thought of you being put in a pain amplifier. They have emotions, too (how cute...not)

  • @bursegsardaukar yes but the whole universe would get on their ass if they violate the convention (even though pretty much anyone does that, see: harkonnen using atomic weapons)

  • @RedDaVincy I thought AGE OF EMPIRES was a clone of dune, but I didn't knew the Civilization series for much time.... NOW i understand that age of empires is burrowed from civilizations+dune!

  • pardon my ignorance, but, aren't mentats "cyborgs", and therefore against the commandment of the butlerian jihad? (yes I haven't read the book yet, but I will soon)

  • @MatRavven actually, the purpose of trikes/raiders is to take the beat from TANKS,because they have high caliber guns resistance, like infantry. And also to kill infantry, but I use them mostly to protect tanks and they do a great job this way

  • @icesyncer he's constantly on heroine, lucky him, lol
