Wes Mallot's release broken down by me

@bowlerboi300 I hate to get in a dispute over this. But any pro bowler will tell you to accelerate at the point of release to create revs. The major key is to get good timing. Like I said before, you may not get more hook, but this will create revs. Take a look at Norm Dukes training videos bowling at the next level. He breaks it down perfectly. And many pro bowlers in my region also have backed up this information. Never hit up on the ball, hit through the ball.

thanks robs274

@chickenlips01 And lets not forget that the 2 greatest bowlers of all time are Earl Anthony and Walter Ray Williams Jr. Neither of whom ever covered more than a few boards but were able to repeat shot after shot and dominate in their respective eras.

The most important thing is to bowl your game, some people have a lot of flexibility and are able to do things with their hand at release that others are not. The most important thing is being consistant in how you release the ball. I have worked in a bowling center for over 20 years and have watched a ton of talented players try to do things that their bodies arent naturally capable of and these players either hurt themselves or get so frustrated they quit

thats not a twist at the wrist bro its him rollin the ball off his wrist if u twist ur wrist to let go of the ball ur gonna break ur wrist ALWAYS ROLL THE BALL NEVER TWIST!! thats the first thing u learn as a bowler

@revbutterball to get more revs u dont accelrate at the bottom of ur spin bro thats how u get more speed if u want more revs u have to stay under the ball more meaning u have to be anywhere under the axis n let the ball rool of the hand while u hit it up with the fingers the speed always comes from the accletration at the bottom not the revs

good video. But if you want revs, you have to accelerate at the point of release through the ball. Much like a golfer gets spin. They accelerate at impact. This does not mean you get more hook! Axis tilt gives you hook. Combine the two, and you have wes mallot!

This is good and all but in order to get to this kind of position to release like that comes more from timing before the release. A person can try and try to create revolutions like the pros but what they dont see is that everything is in time when they release. So you have to start with good timing first before anyone should consider trying to release like this. Just saying
Axis rotation gives you more hook, axis tilt doesn't...

@Robs274 correct. You must rotate the ball on the axis. Tilting the axis will only use the ball core weight to turn. This doesn't generate power or 'carry'. Mallott's hand position shows this well. Keeping your fingers on the inside of the ball to rotate it makes hook. NOT from the bottom around the side. Doing that will only cause the core to flop over, thus there is no true power in the ball. Rotating the ball as shown here is the best way to create pin action for high scores.

There is also another exercise to help with this. Starting with your palm up, spin a pin (or something else that is round). You want your fingers to start on the inside of the pin, and end up on straight. Try to keep your palm facing as far up as possible the while time. Pete weber is another great example of a follow through, specially his hand position.

First off, thank you for the comment. Not to be rude, but I did not say arm turning. That wrist must rotate to keep your hand on the inside of the ball. I understand what you mean though. Rotating its much like throwing a football, but not throwing I football like most people. When you throw a football, you have to let the ball roll off your fingertips. This is the same as bowling. You have to let the ball come off your thumb first and then roll off your fingers to generate revs.
