Tropical Storm Irene hits the southern New England coast. Video taken between 8am and 12pm august 28, 2011 mostly on or near Route 6 in the towns of Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, Marion, and Wareham. Sustained winds mostly between 40-50mph with reported gusts in the lower 70s.

  • Just lots of trees and wires down. A few boats got loose and were ramming into bridges in New Bedford, MA as well. I didn't see too much structural damage besides trees on roofs.

  • @wxknight its weird, i live in western massachusetts, outside of springfield, you know where the tornado hit? the center of circulation passed by us, but it seemed though the winds were kept dew east of us. it was nothing here, just scattered gusts, not really anything sustained. there wasnt wide spread tree damage here, only a few branches and only 1 tree that i saw, unlike gloria in 1985, or closer to you bob in 91.thanks for responding. nice video by the way!
