For the people questioning the French accent and the baffling anti-American comment from Mogura87 about not recognizing a british accent, if you look on youtube for the clip of Nabokov talking about "Lolita" from the CBC, you will hear that there is a definite French tinge to his accent;.he would seem to have been a man of many colliding accents, international intellectual as he was.

Sounds like Russian-tinged English to me. And I'm not inclined to question a performance by Christopher Plummer. Even if he is Canadian.....

I'd rather call that accent an unusually stilted variant of "stiff upper lip"-British English (aka BBC English), but maybe that's just me. At any rate I think the actor does a good job at imitating Nabokov's accent.

Yeah, why is Nabokov French here?

I hate to be haughty, toReasonWhy, but I do think the question rather is "why are Americans like you so ignorant of anything non-American that you'd mistake a British accent for a French one?".

Aww! Don't worry, you didn't succeed at being haughty, only pissy, although I just know you wouldn't truly have hated it if you had! -- you're just another of the many interneters who think it's somehow productive to insult other interneters.

I know what English-speaking native French speakers sound like, thanks. Even if you're claiming that this is an accurate presentation of a Russian speaking british-influenced english, your ad hominem betrays your intellectual weakness. Fuck off.
