At 14 years old, AJ Selig dreamed of playing college golf and, eventually, earning a spot on the LPGA tour. Already an accomplished athlete, it seemed like nothing would stand in her way. But when doctors found an arachnoid cyst on her brain during her freshman year of high school, her dreams were sidelined, replaced by frequent struggles with headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and blurred vision.
Now at 17, an always-determined AJ is back on the golf course, and maintains hope for a healthy future, thanks to the ongoing care, treatment, and options provided to her by her Children's Miracle Network hospital. Though not yet free of the symptoms of her condition, AJ remains positive and enthusiastic, and is an inspiration to other aspiring young athletes.
Beautiful, she is the ember in your eyes, the light that was always with you, a reminder of the soft and gentle whispers of those angels who sang their songs of love just before you entered, and so made better, the light of this world.
