  • Yikes, you might want to think about hand position. It's really easy for a toothy saw to jump onto your hand when it's binding like that. I realize the camera compresses the distance, but still... yeesh.

I learned that the hard way doing exactly what you were doing with the tri-cut. I got a good look at what one's hand looks like under the skin, but I don't recommend it for most people :)

  • @TheJohn8765 Thanks John, good point. I've actually binned the Silverline as it was useless. The Bahco didn't stick at all so was much safer to use.

I like the sound of these Japanese Silky saws, but not had chance to use one yet.

  • Excellent Review, thinking of getting this saw, I have an upgrade innovations camp saw but I think this one might be better for a day hike... what are your thoughts on this saw? Thank You.

  • @ihikearoundcom I have not used the Innovations Camp saw before. It looks quite versatile to have around. One thing that occurred to me is that the Bahco is very quick and easy to fold open and shut, which would be good if you are just on a day hike. The Innovations looks like it might be a bit more fiddly to setup, although as I say, I have not used it.

  • Also: I bought the Laplander last week to prune my Mum's fruit trees for the upcoming year.

Good, stable and clean cuts. The saw felt good in my grip, the blade didn't bind , bend or veer.

It's a good little saw and is sized well. It'll easily cleanly cut through 1" branches or tackle 8" trunks.

    It's worth the price, imo.

  • @spike777uk I've used a dragcut Japanese saw (full size) before, while cutting hardwood flooring, and they cut really nicely. Smooth as... well... silk. You cut a *lot* of material without working for it.

Pity about their cost. It's a bit prohibitive.

  • nice review, thanks!

  • Well..that doesn't look good at all... Have you ever tried a true Japanese Silky saw? Heck I could saw that log in seconds.. Try a saw like the Silky Super Accel (folding) and I guarantee you'll be stunned at how it performs. Lifetime quality as well.
